SMART Table™ enhancements offer increased integration and functionality
SMART Technologies announces a number of enhancements to the SMART Table 230i interactive learning centre. Unveiled in October 2008 in the United Kingdom, the SMART Table 230i is the world’s first multi-touch, multiuser interactive learning centre designed specifically for early education. The hardware and firmware now offer improved display characteristics, built-in Wi-Fi, a quieter fan, stereo sound and support for an increased number of learning applications. The software enables teachers to create and preview activities on their computer and provides greater integration with other SMART products, including the SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard, SMART Document Camera and SMART Sync™ classroom management software (for the Microsoft Windows operating system). Now available in Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and South Africa, the SMART Table supports 12 languages – English (UK and U.S.), Arabic, French, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), Dutch, Danish and Italian. The enhanced SMART Table is now shipping in Europe at the reduced price of £4,399.
Today, more than 500 schools across the UK and North America use the SMART Table to engage pre-literate and literate learners aged three to eight. The newly enhanced SMART Table includes a SMART Sync classroom management software license that enables teachers to transfer content between their computer and the SMART Table. They can then monitor and control student activity, and display the SMART Table screen image on a SMART Board interactive whiteboard. Additionally, integration with the SMART Document Camera enables students to capture images directly onto the SMART Table in real time. The SMART Table Toolkit – used by teachers to customise and create content – now provides direct access to thousands of SMART Notebook™ Gallery items, and allows teachers to preview SMART Table activities on their computer. Available content continues to increase with the addition of Image Reveal, the first third-party application developed for the SMART Table, and many additional activities submitted by teachers through the SMART Exchange™ online community. Software upgrades are available to current users at no additional cost with SMART Table Service Pack 3, which can be downloaded via the SMART Teacher Toolkit.
